March 25, 2013

This has been another great week for Kyle.  Transfers happened today but he is going to stay in the same area and with the same companion which all brought a great big "YES!" from him.  He loves the people he is working with and excited to have a little more time with them.

Last week the branch had a huge talent show and to thank all those that helped out he decided to try his hand at making Cinnamon and Orange rolls for them.  Pretty brave if you ask me, but he claims that they were awesome.  Here is a picture of him sharing the results.

He was also able to share his testimony with an investigator about the Plan of Salvation this week.  There was a moment where she shared a very tender experience in her life and Kyle and his companion were able to share our beliefs about children and their parents being reunited.  Here is a little excerpt from his letter about this teaching moment.

" It was a really neat experience because when I was talking to her about this, my Spanish seemed to be perfect just so that she could understand what I was saying... That's happened like 2 times in my mission and it's awesome when it does!"

He felt that the Spirit was truly able to touch her heart that day.

Here are a few more pictures of his week.

March 4, 2013

After almost a month here at home, Kyle has now returned to Chile.  He is healthy and doing well and so happy to be back on his mission!  While home he had some wonderful experiences attending the temple with family and friends, meeting his newest nephew, being part of the excitement as his cousin opened his mission call to Brazil and even being able to teach a lesson at the Marine boot camp in San Diego, just to mention a few.

He is now serving in a new area called Colina which is close to the Los Andes area where he was before he came home.  He was invited to lunch at the Branch Presidents home where the family has several pet ducks, rabbits and dogs which Kyle thinks is the coolest thing ever, so below you will find a picture of him with his newest friend:)  He is excited to meet more of the  members in his new area and hopes to be able to share his testimony with the people in Colina.

January 27, 2013

This might be the last post for a couple as weeks as Kyle has a little bit of change in his mission experience.  He will be coming home this week for a little surgical procedure and then will return to Chile as soon as he has recovered and continue with his mission.  He will not be released while here at home, so Dennis and I will become his new companions for a few weeks:)  In the meantime, these are some pictures of his last p-day where they were able to visit the local zoo.  In his words:

"But today was the BEST p day yet... WE WENT TO THE ZOO!  It was so much fun! haha I felt like such a little kid just because I was loving every single part of it."

Often the pictures we take tell a story.  Hope you enjoy some of the pictures from Kyle's email this week and can imagine his story.  He is happy and loves the people in Chile!

December 31, 2012

Today was Kyle's last email for the year 2012!  We had a wonderful visit with him on Christmas and we were able to get all 24 of us on Google Chat at the same time.  He looks and sounds great and we are already looking forward to Mother's Day when we get to hear from him again.

Things are pretty quiet in his area this time of year, between the holidays and summer vacation for the kids, many are taking advantage of the break and leaving town, however they are teaching English classes every week and had the largest turn-out yet this week.  We could tell his Spanish is improving because his English is not:)  They have been teaching some wonderful people and there is a baptism this Sunday which is the first one in a year for their ward so they are all very excited.

That about wraps it up for the week.  He loved hearing from so many of you at Christmas and wishes all of you Happy New Year.

Below is a picture of some of the other missionaries in his zone.

December 23, 2012

Just a quick note about Kyle's week.  Most important news is we get to Skype with him tomorrow!  So excited!!

He said it was an awesome week, especially since he discovered an American grocery store of some sort that had his favorites.  Dr. Pepper and A & W Root Beer.  This would make anyones week, right?

He also learned that three of the people he had taught earlier in his mission have now been baptized.  He was so very excited for them.  Despite a broken bicycle seat, a popped tire and 105 degree weather, he is still smiling and excited to be serving.  Until next week:)

Merry Christmas from Kyle and all of us!

December 17, 2012

Here are a few pictures from Kyle's weekly email.  This is the last week they will be meeting in the current mission home because they will be using it for missionary housing in the future.  They met with President and Sister Essig and one other zone for their Christmas dinner this week.  We are so excited to talk with him on Tuesday so hopefully we will have a little more news for next weeks post!
